How long do lychee trees live? We have many in Bali locals believe are centuries old up to 1.5 to 2m diameter.?

This question has historical relevance. Bali has very old lychee trees in many locations but these were, apparently, already growing when the current Balinese started arriving many centuries ago. Old Buddhist temples and artifacts are dated around 900 years ago and the generally held belief is that the lychee trees date from that time.
I’d like to make the trees in our area a kind of monument to history so any help will be much appreciated.
On page 41 you find a publication: LYCHEE: ITS ORIGIN, DISTRIBUTION AND PRODUCTION AROUND THE WORLD with lots of info about Litchi chinensis and here are two more:

Unfortunately there is no tree reported to be as old as you presume. They say: some of the largest specimens are more than 100 years old.
But there is an article, reporting: The oldest litchi tree in China is claimed to be in TangpoVillagein Lingshan County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region where locals reckon it dates back 1,400 years.

It seems so that a lot of research is worth to be done on your old Balinesian lychee trees.
Sounds
good? Then please enter your details into this
form and let's start talking.
