Wayan Khrisna, from Legian Tengah, wins the 2007 kuta Karnival ‘Balinese Dance Competition’ sponsored by Sufer Girl in the Baris dance category.
We didn’t think he would well, let alone win, as the gambelan (music) timing was not right.
But credit to the judges who took this into account and knew of Khrisna’s brilliant talent.
The trophy was presented to him by Jero Wacik, Minister for Tourism.
This was Khrisna’s first major contest, contesting against experienced Baris dancers, 6 years older than him.
His next step is to compete against the Best of the Best in the Bali Festival.
Khrisna will represent the whole of Badung regency at the the festival in the Baris class.
